I bought this to replace my older model Melitta one:one, which I’ve used happily for two years. Lucky I didn’t get rid of it yet because I may go back to using that one. The wider spout on this model doesn’t go down far enough and causes too much splashing, although I haven’t tried using it to fill two cups yet.
Also, for some reason my coffee tastes burnt. I’m using the same pods I’ve always used so I think maybe the temperature is too hot on this brewer. Overall, I like my older Melitta better.

I just received my new Melitta One:One Single Serve Brewer(MES5B)and it is an amazing pod coffee and tea maker. I have used almost every pod machine out there, and this particular Melitta One:One is absolutely the best of the bunch, at an incredible price. The coffee comes out hot, just the way I like it. To top it off, it works with my favorite coffee pods from [........]. Arabica Express coffee pods work in the single pod holder and their larger Sensation coffee pods work in the double pod holder. I am absolutely thrilled about my new purchase!!!

I wanted a coffeemaker that didn’t involve the hassle of daily disposal of the coffee grounds. I considered the Keurig, which we have at our office. It works great, but for my personal long term use, I knew pods would be more economical than the K-Cups. This Melitta coffeemaker does a good job, I think. It makes good coffee, which is very hot. I have used a couple of different brands of pods; some fit better in the double pod holder. I haven’t particularly noticed the “splashing” that one reviewer mentioned. The reservoir is very easy to fill with a large measuring cup; I don’t ever take it off the machine. It is noisy when it pulls the water in and heats it, but the sound is comparable to the Keurig at the office, so I guess it just comes with the territory.

The caveat is that it does not have the 30 minute automatic cutoff feature that is advertised. When I emailed Melitta’s third party handler of warranty claims, they told me “you have to turn the machine off yourself.” The customer service rep at Melitta was extremely nice about this, and sent me a replacement machine, but that one didn’t have the feature either. I think the bottom line is that it does not exist. However, that wasn’t a deal breaker, and I am happy with my coffeemaker–especially when I just toss that pod in the trash.
